Look for Trained Consultants when Hiring a Removals Company

Getting a job in a different state, having a bigger family, having the kids move out or simply starting fresh in a new location - these are some of the reasons why people move. You are bound to do this at one point or another in your life, so you might as well familiarize yourself with the process. Although the starting afresh part is something that you definitely look forward to, the tasks associated with the move itself is the part which not a lot of people like.

In fact, there have been horror stories about how homeowners got ripped by the bills from a removals company; or how most of their precious personal possessions got damaged during the move. To prevent things like these from happening to you, it does pay to exert the extra time and effort in looking for the right removals company.

What a Trained Consultant Can Help You With

Basically, you can hire either the small man-and-van operations, or go with a big removals company. The problem with dealing with small operators is that you are not 100% sure that they have the right equipment to handle the size of the move. They do, however, sometimes offer more personalized service as compared to the bigger removals companies.

On the other hand, dealing with big removals companies will give you the assurance that the size of their operation should be enough to handle the size of the move. Whether you need to move all the things from a three-bedroom house or if you only have a small apartment's worth of things to transport, you can rest assured that the removals company will be able to handle the moving job for you.

Another advantage of going with the bigger removals companies is that they can send out trained consultants to help you.  The job of the trained consultant is to visit your home and assess how big a moving task they will take on once you become their client. Here are the things that a trained consultant can help you out with:
·
Give you an estimate of how much the move will cost.
Although there would be a basic rate charged by the removal company for most moving jobs, they will not be able to give you a cost estimate unless a trained consultant actually comes to your house and sees the things that need to be moved. For example, if you have plenty of huge furniture pieces, it may cost more as compared to a homeowner who mostly owns smaller furniture items.

·
Give you a list of the packaging items that you need prior to the move.
Once the consultant sees the items which need to be moved, he or she can give you a list of the packaging items needed prior to the move. This may include cushioned craft paper, bubble wrap, wardrobe boxes, custom-made packaging materials, contour packing materials, etc.
·
Answer any questions that you may have about the move itself.
Finally, the consultant should be able to answer any questions that you may have about the move. Make sure to ask about what will happen in case one of your things get damaged during the move. Don't forget to ask about any additional charges so that there will be a clear understanding about what you only need to pay for after the move is done.
